Extended FGC Network Meeting 8th September 2016

TIME: 10.30am to 4.30pm
VENUE: Paintworks, Bath Rd, Bristol BS4 3EH
LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED

Family Rights Group together with the South West FGC Forum are holding an
extended network meeting in Bristol on the 8th September. It will be an opportunity
to hear about current practice developments and innovations in FGC practice.

This event is FREE for network members, however we expect demand to be strong so
we advise that if interested you should apply as soon as possible by booking online here

Participants will have opportunity to hear about the latest innovative practice in family group
conferencing in England, Scotland and Wales, including:

FAMILY FINDING
Sean Haresnape, Family Rights Group
will outline plans to trail a UK family finding model, to
help create a lifelong support network for children in care
Gillian Christian, Edinburgh FGC service will talk about the experience of implementing a family finding approach in Edinburgh

FGCs in CHINA
Professor Louise Brown, Bath University
will talk about her ambitious work to introduce FGCs in South China

MEASURING THE QUALITY OF FGC SERVICES
Deanna Edwards, Social work lecturer at Salford University
concerning the evaluation of FGC services
Sean Haresnape, Family Rights Group will update about FGC service accreditation and Post Graduate certificate in coordinator accreditation

ENGAGING THE FAMILIES OF PRISONERS
Karen Rees (Barnardos Invisible Walls project)
will talk about the use of family strength based practice in prison in South Wales

FGCs AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Alison Powney Daybreak,
'FGCs and Domestic Abuse/Violence - experience in the Daybreak Dove Project'

FGCs AND PRE-PROCEEDINGS
Angela Archer, Richard Chalmers Daybreak
'Using FGCs as part of the pre-proceedings framework - initial findings from Daybreak's innovation funded programme in two local authorities

FGCs AND SIGNS OF SAFETY
Dawn Walsh, Kent FGC service
'Integrating Signs of Safety with FGC practice - lessons learned'

THE PARENTS CHARTER
Participants will also hear about Mutaul Expectations: a parents’ charter developed by family members and practitioners through Your Family, Your Voice Alliance and see a specially commissioned short film
