Our advice service

We provide advice to parents, grandparents, relatives, friends and kinship carers who are involved with children’s services in England or need their help. We can help you understand processes and options when social workers or courts are making decisions about your child’s welfare.

Our advice service is free, independent and confidential.

Advice on our website

Our get help and advice section describes the processes that you and your family are likely to go through, so that you know what to expect. Our webchat service can help you find the information and advice on our website which will help you understand the law and your rights.

How to Support Us

There are many ways in which you can support us

The Supporters’ Network

By setting up a regular donation, no matter how big or small, you become a member of our Supporters’ Network and receive 10% discounts on our publications, training courses and events, an invite to an annual stakeholders’ meeting, a regular e-newsletter and a copy of our annual review.

There has never been a greater demand for our service, nor greater pressure on our limited resources. Every supporter and any size of donation will make a significant difference, but it is the regular and consistent payments that provide continuing help to families in need of support. You are free to donate as much as you like, but this guide to how your donation can make a difference might help you decide on an amount.

Other fundraising activities

Support Family Rights Group by participating in our other fundraising activities. We have our annual fundraising quiz night, compered by our patron, The Rt. Hon. Alan Johnson. Our most recent quiz in February 2020 raised over £4,000.

You can also raise money for Family Rights Group by participating in sporting events.

Please contact Jordan Hall jhall@frg.org.uk if you are interested in any event, or have any other fundraising ideas.

If you are interested in going onto a mailing list, in order to keep in touch with what future events are being organised, then please subscribe to our newsletter.

The Giving Machine

Family Rights Group has teamed up with The Giving Machine to generate cash donations for us every time you shop online. You’ll find more than 2000 retailers listed, including all your favourite places – Tesco, Amazon, Ebay, John Lewis, and lots more. The real beauty of it is that it won’t cost you anything!

  1. Choose Family Rights Group as the cause you want to support on the Giving Machine website.

  2. You’ll be prompted to sign up for free as a member.

  3. Install their ‘Shop and Give’ reminder on your device as an extension, which will keep you updated and remind you to shop via the Giving Machine.

  4. Get shopping via the Giving Machine!

Leaving a legacy

Legacy giving is a thoughtful and generous way to support the work of Family Rights Group with families and children in need. It is the ultimate way to pass on something wonderful for generations to come. Even just a small donation can make a huge difference to the families we support.

We recommend that you consult a solicitor when considering making a legacy in your Will. They have the expertise to ensure your Will accurately reflects your wishes and takes into account current law.

There is also some helpful information on how to go about leaving a legacy here.

If you would like to discuss leaving a legacy to Family Rights Group, please contact Jordan Hall on jhall@frg.org.uk.
