Our advice service

We provide advice to parents, grandparents, relatives, friends and kinship carers who are involved with children’s services in England or need their help. We can help you understand processes and options when social workers or courts are making decisions about your child’s welfare.

Our advice service is free, independent and confidential.

Training, Consultancy and Resources for Practitioners

We have produced a wealth of resources for practitioners and offer consultancy services, including tailored training courses for practitioners and managers in the statutory and voluntary sectors.

All our work is based upon promoting practice that is evidence based, focuses upon the welfare of the child and respects and values families. As an organisation, we combine expertise on research and policy development, with in-depth knowledge of the child welfare legal framework, and practice expertise as a service provider in the field of advocacy and advice. Families with experience of the child welfare system are directly involved in developing our resources and training courses.

Our courses and consultancy work are designed to be purchased by an individual agency or group of agencies. They can be varied or adapted to suit your needs. We provide the trainer(s) and training materials and you provide the venue (if delivered face to face) and participants. To discuss commissioning a course or consultancy work contact Pam Ledward pledward@frg.org.uk.
