Our online advice forums are an anonymous space where parents and kinship carers (also known as family and friends carers) can get legal and practical advice, build a support network and learn from other people’s experiences.
Our get help and advice section describes the processes that you and your family are likely to go through, so that you know what to expect. Our webchat service can help you find the information and advice on our website which will help you understand the law and your rights.
The adoption team offers a wide range of support to birth families, including helping parents to understand the adoption process and meeting with the prospective adopters where appropriate. We can help with contributing to a child’s life story book/work and providing support to siblings of the adopted child/ren who remain in care. We provide support around direct contact and with counselling for birth parents who are considering relinquishing a child for adoption (consensual adoption). We also advise on the referral process for families wanting to adopt from overseas.
