The benefits of free, specialist advice for families and children involved with the child welfare system in England (Kempe International Conference)

Join us at the Kempe Centre International Virtual Conference – A Call to Action to change child welfare

Thursday 10th October 2024 at 12pm BST

Family Rights Group has a long history of providing free, independent, confidential, specialist advice to families involved with children’s services. Our national advice service supports families to understand the law and child welfare processes when social workers or courts are making decisions about their children. Our advice service is unique. It is staffed by lawyers, social workers and family advocates and combines expertise and experience in the law and social work practice. Our session will give an overview of Family Rights Group’s advice service and how we advise parents, kinship carers and family members to achieve the best outcomes for their children. We will share real stories which showcase how our service makes a difference. We will also share the findings of our recent service evaluation, which includes a cost-based analysis of how much our service saves the public purse by averting the need for care proceedings and long-term statutory involvement.

Our speakers:

  • Savita Narain, Director of Strategy, Advice and Advocacy Service
  • Jody-Lee Collins, Kinship Care Panel Member
  • Beverley Campbell, Family Participation Officer
  • Cornelia Fuehrbaum, Service Manager, Advice and Advocacy Service
