Family Rights Group launches partnership with Family Action

Published: 20th February 2023

2 minute read

This week, Family Rights Group’s Advice and Advocacy Service is launching a referral partnership with Family Action’s FamilyLine so that families can be supported more effectively.

Through Family Rights Group’s free telephone advice line, more than 7,000 family members and friends in England and Wales will be advised this year about their rights and options when social workers or courts make decisions about their children. In addition, the Advice & Advocacy Service website and digital discussion boards for parents and family and friends carers (also known as kinship carers) receive over 600,000 unique visitors a year.

Family Action is a national charity committed to building stronger families and brighter lives. Since the charity was founded in 1869, they have helped children and families overcome the challenges they face through a wide range of practical, emotional and financial support. They offer free and immediate support to adult family members through their national helpline, FamilyLine, supporting adult family members via telephone, text, email and web chat.

Savita Narain, the Strategic Development Director of the Advice & Advocacy Service, said:

“This partnership is aimed at ensuring that the families we work with can benefit from the services offered by both organisations following one initial phone call.  Working in collaboration, we can link parents, grandparents, kinship carers and other family members who contact us straight into the ongoing practical and emotional family support offered by Family Action.”
