Today was final hearing in court and SGO was granted in our favour for our nephew who has been with us since December. It's been an emotional rollercoaster with the assessment by social services being the most difficult part.
I thought I'd be pleased at the outcome as it brings permanence for little one and we will do our best by him but mostly I just feel sad that he won't grow up living with either of his birth parents. Maybe I'm just worn out with all the worry and pressure...

Re: Mixed feelings!
Ah thank you Irene. You've made me cry. It's been such a journey thus far my emotions are all over the place. Bit like when you have a baby LOL.
I'm not feeling anticlimax yet I think it's more just a general sadness of the permanence for little one and frustration that neither of his parents stepped up to the plate despite numerous chances and lots of support offered.
Yes he is a precious gift. Someone else called him that the other day so must be true!
Thanks again for your kind words of support. x

Re: Mixed feelings!
! felt pretty much the same when we were granted a sgo 18 months ago , but now i agree with Irene. It is hard but it gets easier. We still have run ins with the parents ( mostly over contact ) . The courts judged you the person who was most suitable to care for your nephew.
It took me awhile to see just how bad my grand daughters parents are , now we have learned to be firm and strong.
Good luck in the care of your nephew.
