Child protection/plo

Unread post by Queen bee » Wed Jan 27, 2021 3:54 pm

Hi I’m just wondering does my baby have to be on a cp plan if he’s on plo or can he be on a CiN plan? Thanks.

Dear Queen bee

Thanks for your question, sorry for not responding sooner.

It is quite usual for a child to be subject to a child protection plan (CP) and under the public law outline (PLO) too.

The (“progressive”) stages of children services involvement can be (but not always and not limited to):

i) Early Help
ii) Child in Need (CIN)
iii) Child Protection (CP)
iv) Public Law Outline (PLO)

In some cases, children go ‘down’ from PLO to CP or from CP to CIN. Have a look at our A-Z of terminology for further clarification of these terms.

The PLO stage is ‘more intense’ than the earlier stages, have a look at this archived document the Government produced some years ago in 2013.

I hope this somewhat simplified response is helpful.

Best wishes

Suzie
