Hi hadenough

Thank you for your post.

You say that the Local Authority are applying for your child to live with his paternal grandparents.

Special Guardianship Order:

Just to say that the Local Authority can not apply for a Special Guardianship Order. They can however support a Special Guardian applicant, if the assessments on that person have shown that it would be in a child’s best interests to be placed in their care. It is possible that the Special Guardianship application is being done at the same time as Children’s Services are applying for an interim care order, as part of care proceedings issues by the Local Authority.

Perhaps you would find it useful to look at our advice sheet for parents on special guardianship orders.

Contact:

In your post, you express concerns that contact with your child is being reduced, and you are not happy about this. Has anyone explained to you how this decision was arrived at? I suggest you discuss this with the social worker in the first instance, as they may have other reasons for recommending a reduction in contact in the long term.

I hope this answers some of your queries.

Best Wishes

Suzie

I wish you all the best.

Am just starting to get messed about too. Grandparents seem to be trying to take control and are supported (it seems) by CYPS.

I fear the worst in my situation.

Please share any information you find out on here. In the meantime, if it can be a comfort, be assured, you are not alone.
