Dear ridetester

Welcome to the Board

I am sorry to read that you were reported by a family member to Children’s Services and the Police and had a visit from both. I do hope that one of the agencies explained what the concerns were and why they came to visit you. In general when social workers receive a referral about a child they must take ‘action’ within 24 hours, please have a read of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 from page 28 it will help explain the process as will our advice sheet entitled Child protection procedures.

I imagine that the social worker who visited you will write a report/assessment of her findings and share them with you. You say that you and your wife have both been suspended from your jobs, if it is in relation to the allegation against you and you work ‘in a position of trust/with vulnerable children or adults’ then your suspension may be temporary until the allegation has been fully investigated. I think it would be wise for you to ask the professionals as many questions as you can, particularly as you said that it took the social worker 10 minutes to ‘assess your home environment’.

If you would like to speak with one of our advisers, call our confidential helpline on 0808 801 0366, lines are open Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays) from 9.30am to 3.00pm.

I hope this response is helpful.

Best wishes

Suzie
