Re: Assessments and Coronavirus
Dear Ks200
Welcome to the parents’ discussion forum and thank you for your post.
My name is Suzie, online adviser, at Family Rights Group. I see from your post you wish to know whether children’s services (the new name forsocial services), will carry out risk and pre-birth assessments at this time. The short answer to your question is yes, and these could be done via the phone or other remote devices. This is how most local authority children's services are working at present.
I suggest that you have a discussion with the social worker allocated to your case to find out how any assessment will be done and the timescale for the assessment. You may find it helpful to read information on our Frequently asked Questions here
You may also find it helpful to read our advice sheet Child protection procedures
Should you wish to speak to an adviser, please telephone our advice line on 0808 801 0366. The advice line is open from 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday.
I hope you find this information helpful.
Best wishes
Suzie
