Dear Sirofsake,
Welcome to the Parent’s Forum. I am Suzie FRG’s online adviser.
I can see that due to allegations that have been made against you, children services want to do a risk assessment of you. You ask what this might involve.
I expect that your friend will be asked not to allow you contact with the children until the assessment has been completed.
Ask the social worker the following questions:
• how long it will take?
• who is doing the assessment?
• and what it will involve?
The social worker as well as needing your consent to assess you, will need your consent for her to speak to the police and maybe your GP.
The social worker may want a separate psychological or psychiatric assessment of you. She may also want to assess your friend’s ability to “protect” the children from you, if they decide you are risky.
Even though the police cleared you, this might just mean they did not have enough evidence to get a prosecution. The balance of proof is “beyond reasonable doubt”. However, for children services it is much lower- the balance of probability. So even though the police cleared you, there is the chance that children services will find that you are risky.
I hope this outline helps. If you need further advice please post again.
Best wishes,
Suzie
