Hi I'm looking for some advice
Abit of background history my eldest child was adopted some years ago I went on to have another child because of previous history there were involved I completed all there assessments my case has been closed over a month a go my child lives with me I co parent with my sons dad I am currently supervising hes contact as he had drug issues social services left it as it was down to me when I though he was ok an had been going to get support for hes drug use cannabis I asked them if he was still smoking would it be ok for him to see hes son they said yes along as I saw it was safe not high extra so co-parenting has been going well hes comes to our house to see hes son an out but with covid mainly the house dad has a drug support worker he is working with an I have alloud him to see son unsupervised now.
Well skip forword I'm currently pregnant by my ex sons dad we had a one night thing
What I'm asking is will social services get involved I'm aware midwife will reffer because of previous involvement and if they did get involved what would be my rights as iv just gone threw 3 years with them completed everything they said we have done really well an theyll lece everything down to parents my worry is as when I wa pregnant with my son they told me I could keep him if I did stuff then late in my pregancy they called us in to the office and said there going for removal once hes born after comming out of there office I went in to labour 2 hours later they put me in to shock luckily my son was ok I ofcourse put in a complaint and stuff then they said I could keep him so is that enough for me to refuse there involvnent if they did not have a good enough reason to be involved again which i cant see one i have family support a plan for when babys hear dad will still be hear evan no were not together support us give me break family will be hear an my son will be in nursery I just completed 3 years of heavy involvement with them including pregancy of my son.
Sorry for long post

Dear Kiss,
Welcome to the Parents forum. Congratulations on your pregnancy.
I am sorry to hear that your eldest child was adopted. What good news that you passed the assessments in relation to your second child. Children services are clearly satisfied that you can protect your child from dads risk. Is this due to drug use?
You are pregnant with your exe’s baby and are worried that children services will become involved again.
Yes, the midwife will make a referral to children services. Children services will decide whether to carry out an assessment. After being involved for 3 years, they will have a lot of information about you and your exe so will be in a good position to make decisions about whether you need support.
It is possible that they will want to assess your current situation. If so, it is a good idea to cooperate with them. The assessment should be completed in 9 weeks if not before. Remind them about you going into labour early due to stress and ask them to be open with you from the beginning so you can manage any stress.
It is good news that your exe is working with drug services as this shows he is cooperating with services.
If they do want services to be involved-so have a plan after the assessment, you could ask whether this could be a team around the child or early help- that it be the health visitor and your GP instead of children services.
The best thing is to be cooperate with them at the beginning to reduce their later involvement.
I hope this helps but if you have any questions, please post again.
Best wishes,
Suzie

Dear Kiss
I am sorry to read that you have not been contacted and that you are worried about a social worker waiting until the last minute to contact you.
It may be a good idea to contact your local authority and remind the social workers that you are waiting for an assessment or contact your midwife again and check the progress of the referral she made, perhaps she can check for you?
Best wishes
Suzie

Dear Kiss
In response to your post about what would happen to the referral made to children’s services, they should act on the referral. That is, inform the referrer what action they plan on taking and, would also let you know received referral and whether they intend to do any assessments or nothing.
It should not be the case that you simply hear nothing. The case would need to be closed if they intend to do nothing.
I think you will simply have to keep trying until you manage to speak with someone or, if you have an email address, you could send an email.
Please read our advice sheet An introductory guide to Children’s Services which explains what should happen when children’s services receives a referral.
Best wishes
