Hello,
Not sure if this is the best place to get some advice if any is available.
It's a bit of a messy situation I've found myself in. After being effected by mental health issues from long term stress I ended up being cautioned by the police and so not allowed to be living with my wife and daughters.
Because it is a caution I've been put on the sex offenders register for 2 years. Social services have carried out an initial interview, risk assessment as well as a child and family assessment.
At the time of the assessments it was seen as myself and my wife had separated and so everything was based on just me having supervised contact.
I'm mentaly in a better place and having spoken with my wife we were wondering how to go about sorting through things with social services to allow me to go back to living with my family.
Is this even something that is possible to do or am I going to have to wait the full two years?
Would appreciate any guidance available. Thanks

Re: Help and advice needed
Dear Criostoir,
Welcome to the Parent’s Forum. I am Suzie, FRG’s online adviser.
I am sorry for your situation. You and wife may want to re-unite and you wondered what you needed to do for this to be acceptable to children services.
I can see that children services carried out an assessment and closed the case as they were satisfied your wife was protecting your daughters as she must have understood any risk you might pose to your children and she is supervising your contact with them. However, you are thinking about resuming your relationship and wonder about the implications for children services.
The current assessment would become out of date and children’s services would need to re assess the situation and see whether you still posed a risk to your daughters. While a fresh risk assessment is being completed you would be expected to have supervised contact as your risk is still unknown.
I suggest both you and your wife see what support or course you can do to lower the risks. This will help when you need to be re- assessed by children services. There is the Women as Protectors course run by the NSPCC.
The Parents Protect website and Just stop it now phone line are very helpful.
I cannot see why you should wait to get support, so I advise you to look for support straight away.
I hope this advice helps. If you have any questions, please post again or call our confidential advice line on 0808 801 0366.
Best wishes,
Suzie
