Can the LA assist with Re-Housing if overcrowded?

Unread post by KatKat10 » Sat Dec 31, 2022 2:22 pm

So LA keep making references to the fact the property is cramped and overcrowded but they have not offered any assistance. Are the LA in a position to make a referral to the Local housing unit to assist in being referred for a larger property. I currently live in social housing and have not had much joy getting a swop. The La are focused on what i am doing about it, but are not offering their support.

Dear KatKat10,

Thank you for your post. Children’s services can (and should) work with the housing department to support families they are working with if they need to move into a bigger property due to overcrowding.

Working Together is government guidance which sets out services and what professionals need to do to keep children safe and promote their welfare. It makes it clear that different agencies (e.g children’s services and housing) should work in partnership with each other to support children and families.

I hope that this is helpful,

Best wishes,
Suzie
