Hi all, so my social worker always wants to come at times/ days that are inconvenient for me and my family, obviously she finishes work at 5 and wants to go home. Monday to Thursday I only get home for 4:40 and when I get home I want to feed my kids before she comes, if I don't get them fed beforehand they grab anything I try to stop them it becomes a massive overwhelming situation I have panic attacks when im being rushed.... my kids then get bits and won't have their meal after that.... what can I do about this?
Another question Is... if I was working Monday to Friday 9-5 and only got home for 6 or even 6:30 depending on public transport what would they expect then? X
Inconvenience time....

Dear JMH0809
Thank you for your post and your questions.
If your children are on a child protection plan, then the social worker will want to/need to see the children as part of the process.
You may want to explain to the social worker that you feel some pressure at their time of visiting because the time they visit is often when you are about to prepare meals.
If you were working longer (or different) hours, you could ask the social worker if their visits could take place in a different environment for example at school (when they reopen). Here is our information sheet called Working with a Social Worker, it may be useful for you to help you ‘negotiate’ better home visits.
Here, too is Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, you may find it helpful to understand the work of children’s services when they are involved with families.
Best wishes
Suzie
