Discharge order
Hi 1st time on here and need some serious advice..my son had been in care for 16mths,an agreement between me and ss that if I sorted my life out in 12mths they wld return my son...16mths on they gone against everything that was agreed..they told me I had to do a physcology assessment to have him returned it was negative funny enough even tho I've been sober for 16mths and completed all my therapy and been of my meds for over a year.more stable than ever!I've put the discharge order in and I have discussion hearing nxt week but I've read the guardian and ss and ivo reports and they all negative and saying my son sld stay in foster care and suggesting my visits get cut
actually in pieces and thinking what's the point of going to court to be laughed out but yet can't give up on my son..please advice I'm literally ready to walk

Dear Mindboggle
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Forum.
I am sorry to read that your son is in care and that the professionals involved think that this should remain the case for him even though you have ‘sorted your life’ and completed the assessments and other ‘tasks’ they have asked you to.
I see that you are worried about what might happen at the hearing next week and may I suggest that no one will be ‘laughing you out’ (as you say) because you can demonstrate (and perhaps prove) all that you have done over the last year. The decisions and discussions in court will be about what is best for your son, so, may I suggest it is well worth you attending. Here are our webpages about care (and related) proceedings, I hope they are helpful.
Best wishes
Suzie
