Update - first meeting

Unread post by JulyBabyComing » Sat Dec 02, 2023 2:27 pm

The pre-birth team seemed lovely and I’m very glad they’re a thing now! They said that our unborn baby is currently on a ‘child in need’ plan and that they will go away and read all of the paperwork from the past. They were also surprised nothing was done about my son dying, it does feel like an injustice.
They said that they’ll be assessing me and my new partner together but that they also do it separately just in case, and that that’s the case for everyone, but that recommending one parent is safe and the other isn’t and that the parents separate is rare.
They’ve said that me having a new, supportive partner is significant to getting our baby home and that while they have to read what happened 6 years ago, the focus will be on now.
They said they’ll come out and work with us weekly and we’ll have a decision by week 28 of the pregnancy.
Before the pre-birth team left I asked them if there was anything I needed to be working on right now and they told me to just keep doing what I’m doing.
Obviously a lot has changed in my personal life and everything is so much happier and safer now, I really hope our baby is coming home.

Dear JulyBabyComing

Thank you for your updating post.

It seems you had a very good meeting with the pre-birth team and am pleased for you that you now feel reassured about children’s services involvement.

As you have been told continue to do as you are and once children’s services has carried out their enquiries they will be able to give you more information about any concerns and their expectations.

I hope that you feel less anxious about your situation now and able to enjoy your pregnancy. You are in different circumstances now and that is what children’s services will focus on and you should too.

Best wishes

Suzie
