Child Maintenance

Unread post by Jabba » Fri May 31, 2024 9:20 pm

My child is currently doing his A Level exams, my ex partner has informed me that I will cease making maintenance payments when he finishes but hasn’t given me an exact date ( I pay via standing charge ), Will the payments cease the date of his last exam ( when he leaves college) or will this be when he receive his results

Dear Jabba

Thank you for posting on the parents’ discussion forum.

Unfortunately, your query does not fall within the remit of our service. I think it would be best for you to contact your local Citizen’s Advice or the Child Maintenance Service (CMS) if your payments are being made through this service.

If your child decides to go on to full time higher education, you may still be liable for maintenance, but it seems that once the child has completed ‘A’ levels and/or any re-sits his education would have ended. However, you can get advice from CMS on 0800 171 2345

Best wishes

Suzie
