I am looking for a good lawyer, please help me!

Hello everyone!
Please recommend a good, reliable lawyer who works directly as a family lawyer, maybe someone has had a good lawyer who helped to get the child back into the family? We are looking for a paid lawyer, because we had 3 free lawyers who did nothing to improve our situation. Thanks to everyone who helps, responds and shares their advice, it's really very valuable!

Dear Familyfirst,

Welcome to the Parents’ Forum and thank you for your post. My name is Suzie and I am an online adviser replying to your post today.

Family Rights Group do not recommend particular lawyers as we are an independent, not for profit charity and the majority of lawyers work within commercial firms.

I can however guide you to the Law Society page that helps you to find a solicitor here. You should look for a firm that has Law Society Children’s Law Accreditation.

The Family Rights Group web page about solicitors is here.

We also have a guide to working with a solicitor which gives practical advice on communication and getting the best out of your working relationship with a solicitor so that your view is heard. You can link to this here.

I hope this information was useful to you.
There are many different ways to contact Family Rights Group if you seek further advice in the future:

• A free telephone advice line open Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 3pm (excluding Bank Holidays) on 0808 801 0366
• Easy-to-follow online information. Features include an A-Z, FAQs, films, ‘top tips’ and legal advice sheets;
• Online forums where families can receive advice, discuss issues, and find support;
• A webchat service where you can message an adviser online, who will help you find information and advice to support you.

Best wishes,
Suzie

Hi, I thought they were only free when legal aid is available and when it's care proceedings as it's automatic

Dear poundedskate7,

If care proceedings are in place for a child then anyone with parental responsibility would be entitled to legal aid.

If someone is not entitled to legal aid then they would have to pay the legal fees themselves.

If you would like any more specific advice then please let us know more about your situation and we may be able to advise further.

Best wishes,
Suzie
