Its been 8 months still no contact with my childrens

Unread post by AZ1707 » Mon Jan 20, 2025 12:05 pm

Hi,

In June 2024 my wife and kids were disappeared from my house. I was in impression that due to an old domestic violence issue in my family picked up by the social services and they get involved. In start I thought that they may contact me but after 2 month my wife contacted me and told me the social worker get involved. than she stop contacting me at all.

I thought things will get better and after some time social worker will release them because I was thinking some safeguarding is going on or there might be child protection plan?

But after that its been 8 months there is no contact by my wife or any social worker to me to let me know if there is anything I have to do to reduce the risk towards my kids??

after waiting so long now recently I found that they are in different county., Having there house from council and getting benefits etc.

My Question Is it possible still after 8 months Social worker still working with them and not allowing them to contact with father?

Does the child protection case last that long ?
Am I not allowed even supervised contact by default should I contact direct to my wife now ?

Shouldn't I get some paper work from Child services ? any update etc.

What are my option what should I do as what I want to do is to see my kids even for that if I have to do some DV courses ?

how can I get a social worker for myself who can help me to contact with my family again. I heard that respect.org can help me to find a social worker for myself ?

Or I have to contact solicitor now as its too late ??

Thanks

Dear AZ1707

I am sorry to read that you have not had any contact with your children for eight months. Thank you for your questions below are my answers to them.

Children's Services inform parents (and other people) with parental responsibility when they are involved with their children especially if the children are on (subject to) a child protection plan.

Children’s services would not be engaging in child protection procedures without including a child’s parents. Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 will tell you more about how social workers work with families, see pages 14, 76, 79, 89 and the charts on pages 103 and 105.

Here is a link to our webpages about how to get access to information held (by children's services) about your family.

Respect or Families Need Fathers (now called Both Parents Matter) may be able to advise you.

You may also wish to engage a solicitor, who might be able to assist you with an application for a Child Arrangements Order and an order that may help you locate your children (seek and find order).

I hope this response is helpful.

Best wishes

Suzie
