Child protection. What csn i know?
If my ex has children in his care, his from a previous relationship and his new girlfriend's kids. If they are kept on child protection but the children you share have come off, do I have a legal right to know if the children in his household are still on child protection and what the concerns in his household are, given my children go and stay in theor household?

Dear MsBCK
Welcome to the parents’ discussion forum and thank you for posting.
My name is Suzie, online adviser at Family Rights Group and I will respond to your post today. You are concerned that your children may be visiting with their father in a situation where his partner’s children may still be on child protection plans (CPP)and whether you are entitled to have this information. Here is information about child protection
I believe as a parent with parental responsibility if there are other children living in the home on child protection plans, children services might share this information with you but due to data protection I do not think they would have to. Your children do not live in the home and the other children are with their own parents. You would not have the right to know details of why they are on child protection plans. If, however, you have concerns that your children are at risk when visiting their father, you should discuss these with children’s services and whether it is safe for your children to be in that environment.
You could ask your children’s father whether there is child protection plans for any of the children in his care/household. Explain your concerns and whether you consider it is appropriate for contact to continue under those circumstances.
I think you have a right to know about your own children as you have parental responsibility for them but not about other children unless it directly impacts your children. As suggested above you can discuss your concerns with children’s services.
I hope this helps but if you wish to speak about this more with an adviser you can telephone our advice line on 0808 801 0366. The advice line is open from 9.30am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays)
Best wishes
Suzie
