If you have not seen my previous posts, we are going to a child protection conference due to my partner's history of association with sex offenders and she recently sent a photo of her children to a friend in prison.
We have been working with CS, all contact with the friend and his family has been ceased and we are doing a course on identifying risks which she is responding to well and has been a real eye opener for her.
However, I did previously mention to CS that I was groomed as a teenager but this never really raised any concerns at the time. With us doing this course though I have been struggling to deal with what happened to me and the past trauma has been brought to the surface once again.
I did ask our social worker if I should report what happened to me to the police and she said that was a decision that only I could make. I pushed her a little and asked what would happen with their involvement with our baby if I did make a report but she couldn't answer.
I am thinking of asking for advice when we go to the CPC, but that's likely to be weeks away.
Has anyone else been in this situation and how did their social worker deal with it? Was reporting historical abuse seen as a positive step or a negative one?
