my 2 year old son escaped nursery, found in street

Unread post by blueplain » Tue Jan 07, 2014 9:40 pm

My two year old who has learning difficulties, perhaps global delay ended up in a dangerous situation today. I got a call from my sons nusary. None of the staff noticed or do not know how my son managed to get out the nusary and end far up the road, next to a very busy road with a canal just round the corner. A member of the public noticed him and took him into the nearest shop and called the police. My son could have died and I've already been through a lot with my children. What rights do I have regarding this incident? They were in charge of his safety and his guardian at the time. I have lost a lot of trust with the nursery and I am very cross with them.

Hello Blueplain

I am so sorry to hear about this- what a terrifying experience.

It is difficult for me to advise in any detail as, obviously, our remit is around Children's Services and this incident involves the nursery.

The nursery will have a clear complaints policy, however, and I would advise that you ask for a copy of this and indicate that you are extremely concerned about intend to take the matter further.

Perhaps other parents on the forum have relevant information or experiences they could share, specifically in relation to nursery/ child care providers?

Best Wishes
