Hello- welcome to the parents’ discussion board and thank you for your posts. My name is Suzie and I am an adviser at FRG.
I’m so sorry to read about the distressing situation that you are in.
You mention that your daughter is currently in the care of your mum.
I wonder if you have been arrested or charged in relation to the incident you described? Are there bail conditions preventing you from having care of your daughter at the moment?
Was your daughter removed in to police protection initially or have you agreed that she should stay with your mum?
You say that Children’s Services have issued care proceedings. Do you have a date for an initial hearing? At this hearing, Children’s Services will set out why they feel they need an interim care order on your daughter and the court will make a decision on this. This is only an initial decision- a long term, final decision will not be made until a final hearing at the end of the care proceedings in approximately six months time, following full assessments and examination of all of the evidence.
Have Children’s Services indicated that they intend to remove your daughter from your mum or is it likely that she will remain there while the care proceedings are ongoing?
I am sorry to throw so many questions at you Ruby but it is difficult to offer much indepth advice without understanding your situation a bit better.
Please do come back to us with an update and more information if you would like. You are also welcome to call our free and confidential advice line on 0808 801 0366 to speak to an adviser directly. The line is open from 9.30am- 3pm, Monday- Friday.
In the meantime, do continue to work closely with your solicitor. Make clear notes of all of the issues you wish to discuss and any questions you need to ask. Don’t be afraid to tell your solicitor if you are not clear about the process you are involved in or the advice you are being given- your solicitor is solely there to represent your interests.
I would also advise that you have a read of our advice sheet about care proceedings.
I hope this is a useful start.
Take care and let us know how things are going.
Best Wishes
Suzie
