Hi am new to this but my 2 week old son is in foster cear and i wad woundering what a perant risk assessment is no one as discusef eany think whit me about it and at the contact sessions all they do is wight stuff down but only when i feed him and change him

Well my sons farther is a sex offender thats y i had my son taken from me i no longer live whit him and i am living bk whit my mum but they ate doing a perant assessment on me whic they hv not told me what is invoveld in it and haw long ir will take to get mt son bk i hv change my life around

Well done for making the big changes that you have to protect you and your son.

It sounds as though you are clear why Children's Services are concerned about your son (because of your ex partner) but that they are not being clear about what will happen now and what to expect.

Although you are no longer living with your ex, Children's Services may have concerns about your ability to keep your son safe. For example, they might be concerned that you and your ex will reunite or that it will be difficult for you to manage safe contact with your ex.

You have told us that your son is in foster care. I wonder if this is under a section 20 agreement or if Children's Services have gone to court for a care order? In either case, I would strongly advise you to get a solicitor to advise you if you haven't already done that. You might also want to think about who else in your family might be able to care for your son if he can't be with you at the moment.

If you are finding it difficult to get information from the social worker, it might be best to put something in writing to them. Emphasise that your son is your priority, that you want what is best for him and that you are willing and able to work co-operatatively with professionals to ensure the best outcome for your son.

Ask for clarity on any issues that you are not sure about such as what the parental assessment will involve and what the timescales are. You might also want to point out who in your family might be able to care for your son while you are being assessed and ask for this to be considered. It might be helpful to ask for a Family Group Conference to consider the family support you have.

Hay yes its under section 20 but hv a interim cear order naw well they jv started my assessment naw i jv done one session the final hearing is on the 1 ov october so hopfully my assessment comes bk posative thy hv done assessment on my family but all came bk neg but my ex family he put is mum and is bro fowatd but only os brother amd is wife got possative but there is issues ov haw old they was when the got 2 gether and had there first child
