Child arrangements order

Unread post by Justanangel » Tue Jul 29, 2014 5:47 am

My ex husband applied to court for a child arrangements order. This order was supported by social services and the recommendations were that he have our 3 children live with him and me to have "reasonable contact"
Social workers became involved after I suffered a breakdown after out marriage ended. I am currently back on track and there are no ongoing mental health issues but my ex refuses to let the kids come home.
Yesterday I attended court for a second time. The first time I disagreed with what he was proposing and an interim residence order was granted to him. There was a 12 week period for social workers to make a report and for us to return.
I did not have a solicitor so represented myself.
When arriving yesterday I felt it extreamley difficult to cope and felt very pressurised to have the case dealt with there n then and to agree to my ex's application to have the kids live with him. The judge said I could have let it go to a Final Hearing but I was persuaded otherwise.
I have now come home feeling massive regret. I feel I've gave up on getting my children home. Is there any way I can appeal or tell the court I do infact want to go to a final hearing or is it too late.
Or does anyone have any advice for me as to what to do next?? I'm beside myself and keep thinking what if?? Should I have continued it further eventhough the evidence against me in the social workers report wasn't great or did I do the right thing in agreeing yesterday?? Please help

Dear Justanangel

Due to the fact that we only provide limited advice on private law matters, as we are not funded to specialise in this area, can I suggest you refer to our child arrangement order advice sheet.

If after this time you need further assistance, can I suggst you contact the Children's Legal Centre on 080 802 0008.

Best Wishes

Suzie
