Dear Kitty,
Is the court hearing on thursday the final hearing? If it is, at this stage it is very important that you work with your solicitor. The court will listen to all the partys view points and your legal team will have the opportunity to challege the social workers evidence.
In particular, adoption is considered to be the last resort. The court will want to be sure that the social worker has looked at all the other options thoroughly including you as parent, dad, any family or friends that might have been assessed as carers- before adoption.
If you want to discuss, please call our advice line on 0808 801 0366.

Dear Kitty,

Two pieces of advice for you; you must get the help of an independent advocate immediately to give you support. He or she will explain to you what stage proceedings have reached.

Did the social workers not inform you of your right to have an advocate? They should have done.Sometimes they 'slip uo ' and forget to. Go to your local one-stop shop or Citizen's Advice Bureau ,tell them your problem and ask for one.

Secondly, the best way for you to get help from the FRG will be to telephone the helpline and explain what has happened fully to the adviser. You can do it better talking to the adviser if you aren't very good at writing things down. The FRG have to have more details before they can help.

Do these things quickly!
