URGENT - Case conference - friend as support

Unread post by sh2811 » Tue Dec 02, 2014 11:57 am

Hi.

I have a potential child protection case conference looming. I have read that I can take a 'friend or supporter' with me. Does anyone know what the team running the conference would need to know about that person, i.e. name, their relationship to me, police checks etc?
Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.
S.

Dear sh2811

My name is Suzie and I am an adviser at Family Rights Group.

I see that you are concerned about a forthcoming child protection conference and having a supporter attend with you.

You are able to take a friend or family member to support you at a child protection conference. However, you should inform the social worker of who the person is and in what capacity they will be attending the meeting.

I am including a link here to our advice sheet on child protection procedures which will assist you in understanding the process.

I hope you will find the information helpful but if you wish to speak to an adviser you can telephone our free advice line. The advice line is open from 9.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Best wishes

Suzie
