Hello
My child was in trouble with the police last year and as a result we were referred to childrens social care. As part of the CIN plan he is severely restricted. Basically under house arrest. Cannot leave house without an adult (he is in his late teens)
He has had legal advise to say ignore social care restrictions.
social care have freaked! I am having a meeting with them next week.
Has anyone been in this situation. I don't want to totally upset social services but the situation we are in is crazy!
Any advise!!

Dear lovefood
Welcome to the Parent's discussion board. My name is Suzie, one of FRG's online advisers.
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing such difficulties with the current Children's Services involvement regarding your older son who is currently under a Child in Need plan.
The purpose of this intervention is to offer a family support package where Children’s Services may have assessed a child or young person to be in need of additional support in order to promote their safety, health and/or development. If your child has a disability, he should be treated as a child in need under section 17 Children Act.
Under these circumstances, it is important to remember that you would continue to retain parental responsibility for your child and also that any support offered to your family is voluntary.
However, it is always advisable to engage with the child in need plan to demonstrate your willingness and ability to prioritise his needs and to maximise the best outcomes for your son.
Please feel free to post back with further details of your situation, so that I can give you a more detailed response.
I hope this helps.
Best Wishes
Suzie
