social worker over ruled my PR

Unread post by whatnow » Sat Feb 14, 2015 9:41 pm

Hi just want to know where i stand with this. My son is on a section 20, i have full PR,took my son for LAC medical in October 2014, doctor said there was no record of him being immunised, i told her where he had been given all his injections some 12 years earlier. They gave him injections again, they did not have my consent, i have now obtained medical proof he had them and it was also in a school nurse report from CP meeting. sw and doctor ignored this report and gave him full set of immunisations.

Hi Whatnow,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am sorry to hear about the mix up around your sons immunisations. It must be very worrying. It is not clear whether he has received a second dose accidentally. Can you ask the social worker to confirm in writing what happened in January?

I am not sure what age your son is. During their teenage years for example, children will receive new immolations-as well as boosters. A parent would normally be asked to give written consent for this. So I would have expected you to have been contacted about this as well.
If you do not get an adequate response from the social worker, you could always speak directly to the Independent reviewing officer (IRO) -whose job is to manage and review your sons care plan.

Please post back and let us know how you got on.

Best wishes,
Suzie

hi suzie, i do not feel it was an accident as i said about 3 times NO i do not want him to have them. Nobody is willing to discuss it, the sw does not want to talk about it and told me it cannot harm him. I have reported the doctor to GMC as i told her he had had them and told her i did not want him having more. My sw is still in her first year of training so will not answer questions, her supervisor tells me to stay focussed on the kids and writes that i am busy finding fault with staff instead of concentrating on my kids. I have just been to have a LAC review and they refused to do a physical on my other son that is full of scars from his last placement, they told me that LAC is not for that. This is useless, nobody cares and it feels like they are all protecting each other. Complaints to the LA do not work. The same doctor also wrote a referral letter for someone to teach my son to manage the death of his father, in this letter the doctor wrote i had a court order on me banning me from any unsupervised contact with young people under 16, this is utter rubbish, i have no court order on me and never have had. She also wrote in this letter that social care were applying for an interim order, i asked my sw about this, she said 'oh i think the doctor has made a little mistake' They will not change it as letters have already been sent with this information on. I am fuming.
As for the IRO, she knows about it and said i had a right to be angry, she said she will make sure the next due injections are cancelled and asked me what i am going to do about this mistake, my answer was i dont know, i dont know what i can do. So the IRO did not help really.

Dear whatnow

I am sorry to hear that you do not appear to have improved with regards the care of your son who
is currently accommodated under section 20 Children Act.

You are of course entitled to request a meeting to discuss your concerns with the social worker and team manager. If you still feel strongly enough, that you are not being listened to or treated fairly, then consider putting in a formal complaint.

Best Wishes

Suzie
