Residential Assessment Unit

Unread post by Knowledgeispower » Sat May 30, 2015 3:17 pm

Hi all,

Can you give me a list of all the residential assessment units you know of and whether they are good units or not?

Also can you give me your experience on the units you have been too. What sort of things were you required to do? What outcome did you have?

Where they positive or negative?

What happened after the assessment was completed?

Thank you all

Dear Knowledgeispower

Welcome to the parents' discussion board. My name is Suzie one of FRG's online advisers.

Unfortunately there are a range of residential units, too many to list here, some of these will be specialist with expertise and experience of assessing parents with a specific need ie mental health, learning disability, substance misuse issues, whereas others will be more general. The majority of them may well have a waiting list so if you need to be assessed on an urgent basis, they may not be appropriate in your situation.

If your case is not in the court process it is likely that our family will need to be referred to a Local Authority resource panel who will need to authorise funding in order to agree which placement you could attend.

Alternatively, if you are in care proceedings, can I suggest that you liaise closely with your solicitor and the children's guardian about which resource may be in your best interests to attend at this time.

Best Wishes

Suzie
