Sex offender boyfriend

I meet the most caring loving guy a woman could meet. Then it went wrong !! After 6 months I learnt he was on the sex offender register and had sexual abused his step sister from the age off 6 !! This made me sick having children my self. I ended the relashionship straight away. He has been arrested for not disclosing to the police that he was in a relashionship with me and spending time with me & my children. I feel like I've been left in limbo now and all I know is that he will be charged. I'd love to be there in court to see him stand in front off a judge and hear his side off the story. He took away my duty to protect my children. If he had told me from day 1 that he had abused a child I wouldn't off had him over my door step. I now know there is Sarah law but Is that really enough? And how can this guy still go about his day knowing what he did !! It's really knocked my conference and don't have any body to talk to !!

Dear Sara,
I am sorry that your confidence has been knocked. I think your worry is understandable but what happened is not your fault.

The man should have advised you about his past offending behaviour as well as notifying the police. He is now being prosecuted because he failed to do so.

You say you don’t have anyone to talk through what happened. I suggest you contact an adviser at the Lucy Faithfull Foundation on 0808 1000 900.

They can advise you of any safeguarding measures you could take in respect of future relationships.
