Getting my 7yr old to zip up her jacket.

It's currently winter and we've been experiencing lots of bad weather here, its been persistent rain plus gale force winds yet every time my 7yr old daughter Leah comes out of school, her jacket is wide open and flapping about so I have to zip it up but that is hard because she wriggles and fidgets about but I do always get it zipped.

I usually drive her to school but still like her jacket zipped up, but this morning I had to walk her because my car wouldn't start.

This isn't really a general parenting forum, this is a forum about parents who are dealing with social services or have children in foster care.

I think the best way to deal with your problem though is to just ignore it. If you make it into a battle, it will get worse. Just ignore her and let her walk around with her jacket unzipped, when she is cold enough, she will zip it up herself.
