Children in care

Unread post by Justice4care » Mon Oct 03, 2022 12:01 pm

To whom it may concern,
My children have recently been taken into care and are currently living with my brother under an ico reason for this is due to my youngest daughter having a small bruise on her cheek which is unexplainable and a hairline fracture to her left distal radius which has multiple explanations for, both me and the mother are distraught and have recently separated due to this and are receiving legal advice, as the father
I have received different treatment to the mother and feel like I am getting targeted by social workers and at times my own legal advisor.
Could anyone give me any information on what to do other than what I have already done.

Dear Justice4care,

Welcome to the parents forum and thank you for your post. I am sorry to hear about the stressful situation you find yourself in and I hope that the following advice is helpful.

You explain that your children are living with your brother after an interim care order was issued due to concerns about a possible non accidental injury on one of the children. You may find it helpful to read our webpages HERE and HERE as we have advice and guidance about children’s services involvement when there are concerns about physical abuse, and when court proceedings are in place.

You also say that you feel that you have been treated differently to the mother and would like advice about this. Unfortunately it is the case that fathers can sometimes be overlooked or excluded from decisions made about their children. We have information on our website HERE specifically for fathers which may be helpful. It would be advisable to discuss your concerns about any unfair treatment with the social worker and/or their manager, as well as with your solicitor. If you have concerns about your solicitor then I would suggest that you contact the firm and ask to speak with a manager.

I hope that this is of some help. Please post again if you would like any further advice or you can call our free confidential helpline on 0808 801 0366 (Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 3pm) to speak with an adviser.

Best wishes,
Suzie
