Dear KWolf85
Welcome to the parents’ discussion forum and thank you for your post.
My name is Suzie, online adviser at Family Rights Group. I see from your post that you have been experiencing difficulties regarding contact with your children who live with your mother under special guardianship orders.
You say that there is a court order for you to have contact this being the case, it would mean the special guardian is in breach of the court order and you can apply to enforce the order. If you started a case prior to the covid lockdown, you should be able to revive this. The courts were still working during this period and cases were dealt with remotely.
If it is the case that the court order said contact should be agreed between you and your mother, then she can decide whether contact is in the children’s interest. This may be the case if there were concerns that led to your children been taken from your care and these have not been addressed by you.
I think you may find it helpful to read the information in this advice sheet advice sheet for parents where there is a special guardianship order.
Should you wish to speak to an adviser, you can telephone our free confidential advice line on 0808 801 0366. The advice line is open from 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
Hope you will find the information helpful.
Best wishes
Suzie
