Hello, I will keep things as short and simple as possible. in 2017 I was charged with indecent images of children and I was made to sign the sex offenders register for 5 years. This has now been spent and I am no longer required to register. I have also changed my last name.
The police told me when I am no longer required to register, I would be able to get a girlfriend and even start my own family without having to disclose anything. And will be treated like any other couple trying to have a baby.
My girlfriend is now 5 weeks pregnant, but I am absolutely terrified the midwife or child services will be notified I'm having a baby, would this be the case? Or will I be treated like a normal couple as my conviction has been spent and I am no longer on the sex offenders register?
I've always been informed I would be treated normal but after seeing a lot of other peoples cases online I am not too sure that is the case so I came here for advice.
Also would me changing my name be helpful due to the name on the sex offenders register is complete different
Ex sex offender. My girlfriend is pregnant.

Dear Worried2be2
Thank you for your question and welcome to the Forum.
Unlock may be the better organisation to seek helpful information from, here is a link to their site.
If any professionals (midwife and or others) are advised about your past/history, you and your partner may be correct in thinking that a referral ‘will or may’ be made to children’s services: this should not mean that you will ‘not be treated as normal expectant parents’. Unlock (as above) advises what to do in these situations.
The Lucy Faithfull Foundation may be able to advise too and here are our webpages for parents to be.
Best wishes
Suzie
