Re: Pams assessment
Dear Ilikecake
Welcome to the parents’ discussion board. Thank you for your post. My name is Suzie. I am Family Rights Group’s online adviser.
You are about to begin your PAMS assessment. You would like to know what type of questions you will be asked.
It is good that you are going to work with the PAMs assessor. And that you are getting advice. You are already being a responsible parent by doing these things.
It is difficult to say exactly what questions you will be asked. But the link that I added above may give you some idea. You can also ask the social worker /assessor to give you more information about the assessment to help you prepare. They should tell you what to expect. The assessment may look at:
• Practical parenting skills
• Responding to a baby or child’s emotional needs
• Helping you learn new skills to care for your child
If you are a parent with learning difficulties, you may be able to find a service to support you by searching on the Working Together with Parents Network directory here.
You may be able to get an advocate to help you.
We have advice and information here too which may be helpful.
If you would like to talk to an adviser about the assessment please call the freephone number: 0808 801036, open Mon to Fri from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm.
I hope this is helpful.
Best wishes
Suzie
