Advocate
An advocate is someone who helps parents, children or other family members get their views across when dealing with children’s services and other official agencies.
For example, an advocate can:
- Help someone write letters or make telephone calls for them
- Go to meetings with someone – for example, to help a parent have their say
- Help someone challenge what social workers are saying
- Help people understand what is going on.
