Hello, is there anyone that can help me and advise me.
I had a call from my child's school on Friday saying my child had disclosed some information so they are keeping my child in school until they have spoken to social services. They said they can't tell me anything but my child is safe and at school. A few hours later they bought my child home. They told me not to speak or question my child and that social services would call me on Monday. It is now Tuesday and I've heard nothing. I confused and worried sick as I am still unaware as to what is going on.
My child has said nothing to me although has hinted that it was to do with me and my partner arguing. Now we have had a few arguments that she has witnessed I'm not proud and it's wrong but I'm only human I make mistakes. I just don't understand how they can just leave me sitting here wondering what is going on as no one has contacted me. Of course they have to put my child first. Im just so worried about her and have no clue what is happening or what is going to happen or when they will contact me.
Please help!

Re: Social services
Dear Twinkle
Welcome to Family Rights Group’s parents’ discussion board and thank you for your post. My name is Suzie and I am Family Rights Group’s online adviser. I am sorry to hear about the difficulties your family is currently experiencing and that this is causing you a lot of anxiety. This is a normal response especially as you have been given such limited information.
As you posted a few days ago, and you were supposed to be contacted by Children’s Services on Monday, I hope that they have now been in touch with you and explained more about the referral they have received from your child’s school. They are required to make a decision about whether to assess within 24 hours of receiving a referral. If you have not yet heard then I think you should ring your local Children’s Services directly, giving your child’s details and asking to be updated urgently.
It is difficult to provide any specific advice as we do not know much about the concerns or your child’s situation. Perhaps you would like to post back on this forum or call our freephone advice line to discuss the situation with an adviser. Our number is 0808 801 0366 and our opening hours are Mon to Fri, 9.30 am to 3.00 pm.
In the meantime, I hope that the links below will help you understand more about how children’s services work , how they undertake assessments of children’s needs and also processes such as child in need and child protection. In addition, as you think your child may be distressed by witnessing you and your partner arguing then our advice on domestic abuse may be helpful as well as our links to useful services.
• Child in need
• Child protection
• Domestic Abuse
• Guide to working with social workers
• Parenting and families support
• Relationships services
• Domestic Abuse services
I hope this helps.
Best wishes
Suzie
