Acess to my son
Hi my ex partner and myself are constantly arguing. She always throws the fact I only pay 300 for my son as supposed to the 550 and uses it as ammunition whenever we have a disagreement even though she has had this payment for three years and earns more then me', its always dangled over me if i dont agree or do what she says. I said to her I would like to have 50/50 shared care of our son so I could have a more meaningful relationship with my son rarther then the 2.5 days a week I have him plus the maintenance I would not be paying would give me more resources to do things with my son. She has said we will go to court and let them decide. I have had a conviction for violence 20 years ago with another adult but she says that the courts will give me even less access then I already have due to this ? She has never stopped me seeing my son for 2.5 days a week but if I pursue the courts she will bring that up and make sure I see him less basically. I have spoke to freinds and colleagues and they call me a great farther. I am always doing things when I have him... baking cakes, drawing, trips out, dressing up together (star wars) I own a lovely modern house decorated to a high standard he has every toy you could imagine and I generally put him up on a pedestal and he gets what ever he asks for and enjoy my time with my son. My ex says we will go to court and I will never win against her and I better be paying the full amount of c.s.a going foward. I feel blackmailed and bullied. Could or will the courts stop me seeing my son even though I already have him 2.5 days a week.i would like 50/50 custody.

Dear Raymond
Welcome to the parents’ discussion forum and thank you for posting.
At Family Rights Group we provide advice and information when Children’s Services in England are involved or when you wish them to become involved in your family life.
From the information you have provided this is not the situation for you and your family.
Instead you are seeking advice in relation to a private law matter, which is when there are disputes between parents or carers about things like where a child lives and how much time they spend with each parent. Unfortunately, private law matters do not meet the remit of our service, and we are not funded to provide advice in these types of situations. I would suggest you contact the following organisations, who may be able to assist you:
• Child Law Advice. They do have a telephone helpline which you can reach on 0300 330 5480. In addition, they offer helpful information and guidance for parents/carers in your type of situation and have ‘how to’ guides that you can download for around £2 each. Please do check out their website.
• Advicenow is a website that helps you find the best information and advice for your legal problems. You can choose from a range of categories, such as divorce and separation, child custody and residence, and more.
• Families Need Fathers is a charity that helps parents (regardless of marital status or gender) navigate family separation and maintain contact with their children. It offers information, advice, support, and advocacy through a helpline, online forum, and local branches across the UK
If I have misunderstood your post above and you do indeed have a question about your family’s involvement with children’s services, please do contact us again. You can repost on this forum or send us an advice enquiry form detailing your current involvement with children’s services and your specific question
Our Advice Service also offers:
• Easy to follow online information. Features include an A-Z, FAQs, films, ‘top tips’ and legal advice sheets;
• A webchat service where you can message an adviser online, who will help you find information and advice to support you.
• A free telephone advice line open Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 3pm (excluding Bank Holidays) on 0808 801 0366.
I hope this is helpful
