Our get help and advice section has template letters, advice sheets and resources about legal and social care processes. On Monday and Thursday afternoons, you can use our webchat service to chat online to an adviser.
Kinship Care Week 2026 takes place from 5th October to 11th October 2026. It is the annual national week when we come together to raise awareness and celebrate kinship families in England, and one of the most important dates in our calendar.
Family Rights Group works to make sure that kinship care is valued and properly supported as the first option when children cannot live at home. Together with other organisations, we are part of the Kinship Care Alliance which coordinates Kinship Care Week, and lobbies for greater rights and support for kinship carers at Westminster, Cardiff, and in local councils.
The first national kinship awareness raising week was held by Kinship Carers Liverpool in 2016. Since then Kinship Care Week has gone from strength to strength, becoming a national event with broad support. Kinship Care Week is now celebrated every year across England and Wales, coordinated by organisations in the Kinship Care Alliance.
