Our get help and advice section has template letters, advice sheets and resources about legal and social care processes. On Monday and Thursday afternoons, you can use our webchat service to chat online to an adviser.

Established in 1974, Family Rights Group is the national charity that works with parents whose children are in need, at risk or are in the care system, and with members of the wider family who are raising children unable to remain at home.
Our vision is to ensure that children can live safely and thrive with their families or wider family network, and that children in care can have loving relationships to turn to.
Our Advice and Advocacy Service is the only free national specialist advice service for parents, relatives, friends, and kinship carers who are involved with children’s services in England, or need their help.
Our unique service combines legal, social work and practice expertise to support families when social workers or courts are making decisions about their children, combined with the real-time insights and voice of people with lived experience.
We advise parents whose children are in need, deemed at risk or in the care system. We support relatives and friends to be assessed as potential kinship carers (relatives or friends who raise children unable to live with their parents) and access help to raise children who cannot remain at home.
Family Rights Group has up to two vacancies for a qualified lawyer or social worker (or with equivalent advocacy expertise) with experience of working with children and families to advise on behalf of the charity. As an adviser you will give telephone and written advice to families who are involved with children’s social services on all aspects of childcare law and local authority practice.
If you would like to discuss the role prior to applying, please contact Cornelia or Louise (Service Managers) at [email protected].
The charity is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its work, including employment.
To apply, kindly submit an application form and equal opportunities monitoring form to [email protected] by the 1st September (9am). Interviews are scheduled for Monday, 7th September (online).
Family Rights Group sends out regular newsletters by email for members and non-members, containing latest news, job opportunities, policy information, and details of our events and training.
