Our online advice forums are an anonymous space where parents and kinship carers (also known as family and friends carers) can get legal and practical advice, build a support network and learn from other people’s experiences.
Our get help and advice section has template letters, advice sheets and resources about legal and social care processes. On Monday and Thursday afternoons, you can use our webchat service to chat online to an adviser.
Part of ‘A Global Gathering for the Future of Child Welfare’, a virtual online conference.
Too often the care system breaks rather than builds relationships for children in care, separating them from their families and communities, leaving them isolated. Lifelong Links, co-developed by Family Rights Group with young people, enables children in care and care leavers to build a lasting support network that they can turn to. Since 2017, more than 5,000 children and young people have benefited from Lifelong Links, and evaluations show it has positively impacted on their sense of identity, mental health and wellbeing and led to a reduction in risk of homelessness. It also creates system changes within children’s social care organisations.
In this session, we’ll share how Lifelong Links works. We’ll draw on almost a decade of learning from implementation and evaluation across the UK. And you’ll hear from care-experienced young people about why Lifelong Links matters, what it felt like to take part, and the difference it has made.
