We provide advice to parents, grandparents, relatives, friends and kinship carers who are involved with children’s services in England or need their help. We can help you understand processes and options when social workers or courts are making decisions about your child’s welfare.

Our online advice forums are an anonymous space where parents and kinship carers (also known as family and friends carers) can get legal and practical advice, build a support network and learn from other people’s experiences.

John Trevor-Allen is a Chartered Librarian, working for Public Health England. In the past, he has worked in NHS libraries and local authorities’ public libraries. John has also volunteered extensively, including roles with Nightline, Samaritans, and the British Red Cross. Currently, John is a Trustee of CILIP, where he helped lead a full sector ethics review, and also volunteers as Communications Director for the not-for-profit company Three Rings CIC. John is a previous service user who joined the FRG Board of Trustees in 2018.
