Our online advice forums are an anonymous space where parents and kinship carers (also known as family and friends carers) can get legal and practical advice, build a support network and learn from other people’s experiences.
Our get help and advice section has template letters, advice sheets and resources about legal and social care processes. On Monday and Wednesday afternoons, you can use our webchat service to chat online to an adviser.
Jonathan Scourfield is professor of social work at Cardiff University. He has worked at the university for more than 25 years and before this was a school teacher, probation officer and drug rehabilitation worker. He is the Deputy Director of CASCADE, the Children’s Social Care Research and Development Centre and has led research on a range of topics – most recently family group conferences. From 2018-2021 he was specialist policy adviser to the Welsh Minister with responsibility for social services. He has three children.
