Our advice service

Are you a parent, kinship carer relative or friend of a child who is involved with, or who needs the help of, children’s services in England? We can help you understand processes and options when social workers or courts are making decisions about your child’s welfare.

Our advice service is free, independent and confidential.

Telephone Handler

By phone or email

To speak to an adviser, please call our free and confidential advice line 0808 801 0366 (Monday to Friday 9.30am to 3pm, excluding Bank Holidays). Or you can ask us a question via email using our advice enquiry form.

Discuss on our forums

Our online advice forums are an anonymous space where parents and kinship carers (also known as family and friends carers) can get legal and practical advice, build a support network and learn from other people’s experiences.

Advice on our website

Our get help and advice section has template letters, advice sheets and resources about legal and social care processes. On Monday and Thursday afternoons, you can use our webchat service to chat online to an adviser.

Family Rights Groupathlon 2026

Join staff, trustees and friends of Family Rights Group in your own multi-sport challenge!

Promotional banner for Family Rights Group’s “Groupathlon” fundraising challenge. On a purple background, the Family Rights Group logo appears beside the text: “Groupathlon,” “A team fundraising challenge,” “12th to 20th September 2026,” and “Join us – swimming, cycling and running.” To the right, three vertical photo panels show a swimmer underwater reaching forward in a pool, a cyclist riding on a road, and a person running on a riverside path. The design uses purple, blue, and white branding colors.

Over the course of a week, Family Rights Group’ trustees, staff and supporters will together take on the equivalent of an ultratriathlon, raising money to support our work.

The thing is, we’re doing it as a team. You can join us by committing to do at least one of the following:

12th September to 20th September 2026

🏊 Swim 1 kilometre – wild or in the pool

🚴‍♀️ Cycle 50 kilometres – but not on an electric bike!

🏃 Run (or walk) 10 kilometres

It’s free to enter but we ask that you aim to fundraise £100 for Family Rights Group.

Please contact Jordan at [email protected] if you would like to take part.
