Family and friends care policy
Every children’s services department should develop and publish a local family and friends care policy. The requirement to do so is set out in government guidance. The policy must address the needs of family and friends carers. The policy should make clear what support they provide to family and friends carers. It should provide information to carers which is relevant whether or not the children are looked after. The information should be kept up to date, and easily accessible on websites and via leaflets.
