Can a parent challenge a placement order once it is made?
Under 1 minute read
If a parent can demonstrate a change in circumstances since the placement order was made, they may be able to apply for the order to be revoked (ended). The Court of Appeal has said that that the change in circumstances must be ‘sufficient to justify reopening the issue’ (Re P (Adoption: Leave Provisions) EWCA Civ 616).
The change can relate to either:
- The parents’ circumstances;
- The child’s circumstances’ or
- The child’s placement.
