Kinship Care Week

Kinship Care Week logo and balloons with hearts in them.

Kinship Care Week is seven days in October when we come together to raise awareness and celebrate kinship families.

Kinship care allows children who cannot live with their parents, to stay safely in their family, with people who know and love them, instead of living with strangers in the care system.

What is the history of kinship care week?

The first national kinship awareness raising week was held by Kinship Carers Liverpool in 2016. Since then Kinship Care Week has gone from strength to strength, and the week is now celebrated across England and Wales, coordinated by organisations in the Kinship Care Alliance.
